I need to change a bunch of windows on a house in White Rock and don't have time to do it myself so I thought I'd ask/offer the work here first. Would be nice to support fellow RHD...
Cheers

Sorry, I didn't read this before responding to your pm. I've been interested to try Westeck Windows and Doors since I've heard good things and they've been supporting my company even though I've never used them (I'm sure they're trying to gain business but it's still nice). I've personally installed windows (worth $20,000 each!
) in a house in Shaughnessy but am by no means a professional when it comes to that. I usually get my do-it-all framers to install windows so maybe someone like Artacoma would be interested!?

Word of caution... if you employ a framer to install windows, make sure you ask about their experience with window replacement. The building envelope is of such great importance here in BC that you don't want to risk water ingress in order to save a few bucks. Just be sure they know what they are doing. You don't want to deal with moisture in your walls or the resulting rot/mold.
Not knocking anyone here... just friendly advice. Ask the right questions is all I'm saying.
Cheers!

Just following up on the above post.
The majority of builders I've done window inspections on are just barely complying with basic building envelope requirements, let alone with the new recommended practices. You certainly get what you pay for with window installers!

I wasn't suggesting using any old framers, my crew have done this many times before and pass all inspections with flying colours.

i wasn't accusing you of shoddy work.
Also saying there is a difference between passing inspection and then doing a job to the most current levels of building science.

Agreed and I didn't take it that way. I just wanted to rectify my previous comment so it didn't appear as though I was recommending hiring a framer to do a job that most aren't qualified to do.mrraulduke wrote:i wasn't accusing you of shoddy work.
