clutch slave cylinder acting up?

just yesterday my truck became quite hard to shift (5spd manual). sometimes I can't even get it back into first gear unless I first put it in forth, then drop down through the gears to first (makes me think syncros are wierd...).

Reverse is also very difficult. It likes to grind some gears now..I don't like that.

I've also noticed when dropping gears towards a stop light, when I get into first and almost at a stop with the clutch fully in, the truck will try and lurtch forward just a touch as though the clutch has been re-engaged or clutch pedal has been released(it has not).

any thoughts? syncros? slave cylinder? master cylinder?

It wouldnt be the gearbox, could be hydraulics acting up, I'm not familiar with the exact setup, but its worth considering the flexi pipes too, sometimes they can balloon instead of transferring the full fluid amount and therefore throw. Also this coul de clutch thrust/bearing failure, or possible the springs in the clutch too. But its worth checking the hydraulics first to see if you are getting the right throw.

Hey,
Have you tried double pumping the clutch pedal (or triple)?
Have you checked the clutch fluid?
On my L300s the clutch and brake fluid share the same
Reservoir, so a weeping brake line or wheel cylinder can cause an insufficient
Clutch pedal response.
Not sure about set up on Pajero.

Pretty sure it's you clutch slave cylinder that is leaking.Check the fluid level.If the level is low,check the slave cylinder just by pulling the boot on it.Check for brake fluid leaking.
I've repaired it on the Strada of my brother this summer.
I've bought a repair kit on ebay:

I checked the fluid level, it was at halfway, pretty sure it was full whenever I looked at it last. I bleed the line a little with no bubbles or burps and topped it off. I don't think its made a difference as all symptoms are still there. I'll take a look at master/flexi line/slave boot this weekend. see if anything is wierd there and maybe do a complete bleed, give it some fresh fluid...

I have a feeling its not as simple as this because nothign ever is for me... I'm thinking the pilot bushing is catching a little bit, and thats what is causing the lurch forward at the stop light.

Its the pilot bushing!!! stupid 5 dollar part creates havoc!!

getting the whole lot done shortly, pilot brg, throwout brg, clutch, flywheel machine, quick once over of the tranny since its out...

It always turns out to be a big job!!!

there was nothing wrong with the clutch/components other than needing a new clutch due to age. (it was not the cause of my symptoms)

The transmission was my problem. majority of the bearings were toast, including one where it was pretty much running race on race. shafts, gears etc. were all in good shape.

2300 bucks later I've got a new clutch and tranny rebuild :) and :(. pricey!

The truck is much more quite in the cabin now, thats for sure.
