Can a ladder be installed with rear spoiler?

Post by jaggedfish »

I am new to this Delica thing so before I go ahead and introduce myself, I have this question...

I am looking at a 92 Exceed with Crystal Lite roof which already has a rear spoiler installed. I want to install a roof rack and rear ladder for extra capacity on whatever van I buy. There is a reasonably large gap between the body of the van and the spoiler itself but I am concerned about whether or not a ladder would be able to fit this application.

Does anyone know if this is possible or have seen one installed... or better yet... any pix?
Really jazzed about these vans. Thanks in advance for you input!

You do see Delicas out there with rear ladders and spoilers, ok I'm sure I have seen two. All the Delica ladders I have seen just 'hook' on to the top edge of the rear door, some stick out more the others;

Here's the premium Mystery Machine one;

Would that fit the spoiler your interested in?

Yes it's possible and with different types of ladder as well. Here's a pic (sorry if it's not the best) one of the option you're looking at.

Cheers,

Thanks!

I was figuring it should be possible and now that I see the pix it makes sense. I'm not married to having the spoiler but the van I am looking at is a 5 speed which is the big attraction. Looks kinda cool with the spoiler/rack/ladder thing on top even if the function of the spoiler itself is really void once you put a giant metal cage in front of it (I know someone was thinking that).

Difficult decision on going with the high roof versions or the low roof. I travel on BC Ferries a lot and it seems either version is technically "over height" (over 7 feet) with rack and light bar. Could be a "go big or go home" decision. Hmmm.

I will keep checking this post in case others have any input too.
Cheers!

PS.... okay now that I think of it... the gutter height is the same for all roof versions thus the height of the light bar and lights would be the same too. Still not sure if that makes my decision easier or not....

If you're in need of a ladder I have one that I would sell as I don't use it. I also has ski racks that attach to the ladder which was the original reason it was on the van.

that's the second item you've mentioned today that I may be interested in... I've been looking for a ladder, just haven't had time to deal with it yet... let me know what you want for it... (and if possible a picture of which type it is)

Check this out Green1. I don't what these things are worth at all so either give me a bit to think about it or make me an offer.
