Lock-up torque converter?

Post by loki »

Anyone know if there is a lock-up torque converter that will go in the deli auto trans? I think it would help the transmission live a bit longer and should provide a little better fuel economy, I think.

I'm pretty certain mine locks up, although I haven't checked to see if it is for sure, it definitely has a phantom 5th gear.

Well it really should lock up in any gear once the tranny starts to get close to the same speed as the engine, this eliminates lost power and helps keep the tranny cooler especially when towing or climbing. Unless I'm totally of my rocker here.

The manual for the auto box on the Wiki shows that there is a lockup clutch available on the transmission model for that manual. Check which tranny you have, if it is in the manual, it may have a lock up, or one may be available.
