Fuse able Link - posted picture now

]I have heard the term here on the site but never really could picture what it was. While installing my new battery I was missing one connection and saw a broken wire. This wire seems pretty brittle and I noticed there is another one near the battery. Is this what is referred to as the fuseable link?

Yup, that's a fusible link all right. Looks like it's done its job too. (Sometimes the insulation frays when it rubs, and when it eventually shorts out it blows the fuse even if there's no fault in the circuit.)

That fusable link is not the main one that we mention. Your photo looks like one the flops near the main one, just above the battery, with only one wire going ina and out, I forget exactly what is does but if will prevent the L300 starting at times (so maybe its to battery, or fuel, or fuel pump, a safety switch, or something else serious)...yes it dies with brittle old age, just cut the wires back and install an inline fuse (I can go look at mine for the correct fuse rating) do with with battery disconnected --- zap ouch, start cpr.

The actual fusable link is black plastic, bigger than your photo, with 4 larger diameter wires going out then in again. Each of the 4 wires protects a quarter of the vehicle, geographical quarter ie front right vs left rear etc. The wire melts with short circuit, cheaper than a glass and metal fuse with fuse holder.

What is the amperage of the inline fuse you installed in place of the floppy fusible wire?

Try around a 25Amp fuse.

Then i would go with a circuit breaker ,take a look at Blue sea products at either Steveston marine or West marine
