Turn Signal Stuck Flashing Left!
Greetings,
*click click click* I have a small but annoying problem!
Out of the Blue one day, my 95' spacegear Left Turn Signal decides to come on and stay on as soon as the electrical system is on. Regardless of what position the the Turn Signal handle is in. From the signal clicker, to the side lights, it all keeps flashing.
I've dissembled part of the turn signal assembly arm ( small panel holding base of the arm on the steering wheel ) and inspected it. Nothing physical seems to be the problem.
Is there a way to discern if the signal arm electrical sensor is messed, or perhaps another part of the circuit?
Thanks for any insights.

Do you have a trailer lights adapter? If so, disconnect it and see if your problem goes away.
Otherwise, look at changing your turn signal relay. Can you signal to the right?

Had a similar problem with my Niva, turns out that it was dust buildup and lack of diode grease in the switch itself. Clean and repack cured that. Other than that I second the potential relay issue.

Nive if it is making you crazy, take off the centre trim piece and disconnect the hazard switch. Your turn signals won't work.

Re: Turn Signal Stuck Flashing Left!
Thanks for the thought process.
No trailer hitch, so it's not the same issue as another forum post.
I took apart the 'switch' and it looks fine. No stuckness on the white 'sensor pressure buttons' and it has lots of grease. Perhaps right inside the arm that contains the electric sensor, I'll have to try that one again ( but it's awkward and finicky )
There is no change to the signal flashing, whatever the position, so no right turn at all. I pulled out the fuse to turn it off entirely, so Im not annoying myself or others with false signals. But it's tricky to drive at all really, when you're right hand drive and nobody can see your arm signals!
I guess it's either the electric sensor inside the signal arm, which I'd probably need to replace the whole thing, or the signal relay. If I can't distinguish which one the problem arises, then I'll start with the relay and then the arm.
From these symptoms, I think it really could be either.
Thanks and I'll report back as I find out more!

Re: Turn Signal Stuck Flashing Left!
Do you have a DRL module hooked up to the combo switch (headlight/turn signals) ?
If so, disconnect it and test.
It's common to see both the L300 and L400 combo switches go bad due to DRL modules connected to them.

Re: Turn Signal Stuck Flashing Left!
Just removed DRL Module. This made no difference to the stuck turn signal flashing constantly.
I'll order a turn signal relay tomorrow. Is this part of the combo switch you've mentioned jfarsang?
cheers

Hi Nive,
Did you ever resolve this issue? I've got the exact same problem with my '95 L400.
Cheers,
Kevin.

Same happen to me. We had to bypass the turn signal handle and installed a switch. Cheapest way to go

Claude, was the alternative to replace the turn signal handle?

No We had to replace the all gizmo, expensive way. So we installed a switch

Re: Turn Signal Stuck Flashing Left!
We installed a Mon on-off-Mon on toggle switch in one of the spaces to the right of the steering wheel and tapped into the turn signal wiring harnees at the steering column. Cheers Jay TardisDeli
