Roof Racks L400 - Easily removable

Post by oceanchem »

Hi all,

Wanting to van top my kayaks and currently do not have a roof rack on my 1996 L400. Ideally, I would like to be able to remove them easily so that, 1) my van will fit in my garage (which it does just barely without racks) when not needing to carry kayaks, 2) when I go to the mainland I am not overheight for the ferry.

What are my best options?

Cheers,

Jay :M

Thule bars? That's what I have on my P25W (low roof L300). Easy to install and remove, I use them for my ladders when I need them. I think I paid $200 for a pair at Canadian Tire.

Thanks Falco. I'll look into the Thule's for a 400.

I bought a set from Can tire and they didn't work because my roof on the Pajero was to high....They would work on a low roof like Falco's L300 but measure to make sure they will work on your roof. I ended up returning them and bought a set from CVI and they worked out well...but still working on figuring out how to stop the wind noise as they are Very loud at hwy speeds.
