Body Lift?

Post by naterade »

Hey all

Has anyone heard of (or seen done) a body lift on an L300?

I would like a bit more fender clearance to allow for bigger tires, but I don't think I want to mess with the stock suspension by doing a suspension lift. Cost of a body lift would be much less expensive too...

l300 is a unibody my friend.(open c-channel) A 1" lift will require no parts- other than extended rear shackles which should get enough clearance to fit most 30" tires, depending on your rims. Your stock upper ball joints will handle a 1" rise. If you dont plan on offroading (then why the bigger tires?) the stock shocks will suffice for a 1" lift.
A small lift (under 1.5") is easy to do, and if done correctly should not pose and noticable alignment issues. (tapered ball spacer) It can be done with extended rear shackles and ball joint spacers. If you are concerned with driveline issues do a proper "wedge" axle block spacer, as opposed to the shackle swap as the pinion angles are not going to be correct. (however with a 1.5" lift I doubt the difference would be of any concern) Im going on a few years with my extended shackles (4" longer = 2" lift) with no issues, just the usual axle wrap under hard excelleration as the leafs have no support) Jesse F used to sell the 2" L300 kit for around $250-300 I think??? But with that you will need some extended shocks.
