aftermarket wheels???

Post by sooperAndy »

I recently bought a delica, and while I am having difficulty uploading pictures from my camera apparently I can share pictures from my phone...

Anyways, these wheels came on my vehicle, and I haven't seen them on any other delica. Are they aftermarket? Who made them? My spare is a standard teardrop style, which makes me think these are not original..

I hope this link works.

Any input would be great!

Those are aftermarket rims. And given that most of the Deli's are 90's vintage those wheels won't be available anymore. You may find something close with that 5 star pattern from Centerline.

If you look on the backside of the rim there should be a name of the manufacturer...most likely directly from Japan.

Its odd, many of the aftermarket rims on Delicas have those fake rivets in them. Just for looks and a place for road salt to hide.

I think those could have been a delica upgrade. My first delica had those on it as well. I have seen one other one. So they could be actual delica rims.

Is there any quick any easy way to tell how wide they are? I'm assuming they are the same size as stock wheels correct?

The size and offset will be stamped on the rear. They are a bit similar to other mitsu split rims I've seen, so maybe a different mitsu ones, but then, all split rims look a bit similar.

So if they are mitsu wheels.......does the ring clip for the stock center caps fit in the hole? Those appear to be thicker in the center hole than the usual Delica wheel options.

Nice wheels either way. Mine came with a set known as the Modulars. They are usually sold with thin caps but there isn't enough wheel to hub clearance on the Deli.

i don't know if the Center cap fits, i don't have any...
there is a cap of sorts over the front wheels, they say Auto Free Hub... don't know if that is the stock delica one or not...
but the back just has what is seen in the picture.

Auto freehub is the delica hub, its factory, if the wheels are designed for the deli clips they should have a machined recess for them.

Those rims look nice, I have not seen them before.

I have the 2WD 5-lug hubs, and I wanted to go from 14 inch to 15 inch, and also keep with a rim style that is period for the van (1990), I got 5 'lace design' rims from a 1992 Mazda MPV.
