I know this question has been addressed, but not answered to where I can understand if I can put 31" BFG 10.5 A/T. on my Stock SWB Gen II L400. There is this post http://www.delica.ca/forum/tire-sizes-f ... -7674.html
But Answers seem to conflict.
Has anyone actually tried (successful or Not) to put BF Goodrich 31.5 x 10.5 x 15 tires on a stock height, stock rims SWB L400 Gen II Super Exceed?

No you won't be able to.
Not without them rubbing, especially in snow or mud.
I'm running 30" on my gen 2.

I second that. You'll need a lift and even then you'll rub a bit in the front. Trust me i just went through this. The back might fit though.

Re: Gen II L400 Can I Put 31" Tires ?
Thanks for the input guys. As per my usual style I researched the problem after the fact. Truth be told I had little choice as those BF Goodrich tires were on my 91Toyota Pick up that I have to sell:-( I didn't want to sell those tires with the truck because they are new. So I asked my mechanic to call with his opinion after mounting 1 front tire. He called me and said it will rub on the Mud Flap when turning hard left only. So I said go ahead with it. I plan on doing a 2" lift this fall, in the meantime I read somewhere on this site about tweaking the torsion bars temporarily until I can put a lift kit in.
So bottom line, those tires fit, but they definitely rub on the Mud Flaps when making tight turns in say a parking lot in either direction.
My concern is when the snow flies or if off roading I will see the problem really manifest itself.
Do you guys think that I will be fine with a 2" lift or should I cut my losses and abandon my plans for thos tires?

Yes i heard nothing but positive things about Jessies lift kits. Smoother ride, better handeling. But should i be worried about those tires even with a 2" lift?

I have 31x10 Duratracs, they fit with a lift and some creative bashing and trimming on the front. Rear is no problem.

L400 lift kits on the front are hit and miss.... Up to a certain lift height the maxed out camber and caster will not wear out your tires prematurely. You need to raise it to what you want then let an alignment shop advise you if tire wear is imminent. Seems dependent on the year???? Raise and reindex with your original tires on b4 buying your dream tires. If the TB's sag at all buy new ones (and saddles too).
Jesse's or any lift kit is not always needed in the front. Good torsion bars (ie new) will lift with reindexing without any blocks. I had 2" blocks but changed to 11/2" and installed new torsion bars with exactly the same results. My friends van sits 1" higher w/o any blocks and no abnormal tire wear, raised by our best local deli shop. Go figure....
good luck
