Agree with Mararmeisto, nice to read old letters from old friends, about old times in DelicaVille.
Hello to Glenn Delwood. Please come to the Ikea Coquitlam meet tomorrow. I can tell you all about hitches, and show you my wonderful E&H hitch which is the only one I recommend for strength, so you know what to look for when buying. And we can discuss your towing capacity etc.
Christine.

Re: simple hitch update?
Hello everyone!
I have been looking for a hitch as well for a long time. I can get one, maybe in a hitch welding shop in Calgary for 600$. But I know there was hitch made ready to be bolted on the L300. MAx Overdrive use to sell them, still have them on their website but don't sell them anymore.
So is there anyone out there that would know where I could get one of these?
Cheers!

Re: simple hitch update?
Just make sure they are the upgraded ones. Max Overdrive used to sell one where all the components were bolted together but they would rotate down under load. The newer versions still bolt onto the van but the hitch itself is welded. Also, make sure it was sand blasted before painting because E&H just paints without blasting and they get covered with surface rust within a year (even if you ask for an extra coat of paint like I did).glenn wrote:Rising Sun had them when I last checked. Also, if you're towing a trailer make sure you know the load rating. I also had some loops welded onto mine to secure the chains, but these didn't come standard. E&H didn't charge to add these, but if you had to modify a bolt on hitch, I assume they would. The guys at E&H said they don't weld their hitches together until they have the vehicle in shop because our Delica's apparently are not all created equal and the holes can differ slightly making it difficult to attach the hitch. Mine ended up taking 2 guys 8 hours to install!

Re: simple hitch update?
Thank you! Just sent them a request.
We are moving to Nova Scotia in 6 weeks and the Deli will pull a very small trailer, while the Pajero will pull a much bigger one. It is going to be interesting for the lady driving the Deli making her way through Montreal! She is already pretty stressed about it. I told her to stay in the same lane and keep looking in front and not bother with the sides and back, the "montrealers" know what they're doing.
We'll keep you posted!

Re: simple hitch update?
That's going to be a fun trip! Nova Scotia is a great place! Where are you moving to? There are a few Delica's in the area. Watch the temperatures if you have a headwind on the prairies pulling a trailer. I really didn't find Montreal driving to be scary at all, it's actually a really neat place to drive around and everyone drives pretty slow.FredVenne wrote:Thank you! Just sent them a request.

Thanks for the tip NXSKI!!!
We bought 67 acres of land in the Pugwash area, but we are going to move in New Glasgow (Campus town).
You found people were driving slowly because it probably was a freaking jam!!!

Re: simple hitch update?
I wish there was a logical reason, it was somewhat busy downtown, but in similar traffic of downtown Vancouver, people would travel about 60 kph, in Montreal it was more like 30kph. Some areas were slow because of cobblestone streets too.FredVenne wrote:Thanks for the tip NXSKI!!!
