Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Electrical Gremlins (Left turn signal, hazards)

Post by Jordan »

Some gremlins have recently moved into my van

Symptoms
-dash lights have been flashing; alternating with my left turn signal
-Left Front turn signal only half brightness
-Left Rear signal not working
-Hazard fuse blows when engaged

I checked the ground on the front/rear signals, swapped the bulbs around and tried a different headlight switch. Is it likely the flasher relay or should I be searching for bad grounds/shorts elsewhere?

I have the same thing happen with my turn signal - and it's my fault. When installing my daytime running lights I must have done something weird in the steering column.

So, take off the steering column and see if there's any wires that are bare/fused. Check the wiring loom connections/plugs to make sure there's no black (burnt stuff) in there.

Gremlins like this are often of a one-off thing that just takes a lot of removing panels and jostling wires.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I took my DRL module out and cleaned the splices awhile ago after it crapped out, much before this incident. The relay for the indicators *looks* fine inside and out, no corrosion; took apart and cleaned the 4 way flasher switch and swapped the combo switch with no luck. The hazard fuse blows as soon as the switch is engaged, the left front signal is only getting 5.5v and the rear left isn't getting anything. Trying to find corroded grounds/melted wires after the 4 way flasher switch but no luck so far.
