Seems I can only add 7 photos at one time so...

Here you can see the gap when fitting. Tightening the bolts eliminated some of this, but then part of the body pulled away from the hood! Not the best solution.

Here is the partially finished product - at least it works for now!

I painted all the bare metal with tremclad. But as I said, I will be revisiting this to adjust the rotation of the snorkel closer to the proper place. I will need to use a stepped drill bit to widen my holes, and find some bigger washers to make certain it lines up better. I think that is the best solution before I drill it into place by the drivers door.

On a cool note, it works, as you might expect, like a giant vacuum. It stuck my hand to the mesh when I gunned the engine with my hand near it. Pretty impressive overall.

Took me far far longer than it should have because of the design flaws and useless template. When I screwed in the posts that hold the snorkel on? They went THROUGH the snorkel because the fiberglass was so thin.

So, I was testing the snorkel out on the driveway - and those of you who know, know my driveway is insane. 210 meters of elevation gain in 600 meters of run.

Here is what I learned:

The snorkel adds a loud and deep growl to the engine sound - since the intake is exposed, you can now hear it with the window down.

So, those of you looking for a more aggressive engine sound, the snorkel does this in spades.

Also, driving up and down a steep driveway twice in rapid succession makes your turbo screaming hot. I could smell the turbo when I got to my parking spot. It was that hot. I restarted the engine to let the air cool it, then sprayed a garden hose under the bonnet - to a massive eruption of steam. Sure, your exhaust always gets hot, but I expect my turbo was glowing cherry red from gunning the engine up that hill twice.
