Electrical question...

Post by ExplosiveAbe »

Hey guys, just a query;

I had my batteries replaced today & when I went to pick up my Deli, it wouldn't turn over. It would send power to everything. ie; fan, stereo, lights etc. but it wouldn't turn over.

The mechanic that did the work then started unplugging the wires from the male/female clips & switching them around randomly. I don't know if all L300's have the male/female clips on about 4 or 5 of the wires around the battery, but mine does. In any case, it had the same result; power to the fan, stereo, lights etc, but still would not turn over.

He eventually removed one of the batteries to discover another clip that had come unclipped & after being clipped back together, my Deli fired right up.

My Deli seems to be functioning normally, but I'm just wondering if I should be worried about the random unclipping/clipping of various wires & if it will have a negative outcome? I'd be very surprised if the same wires were paired with the same ones before I took it there.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Yep....little white connector that comes apart when you swap the batteries and you get the no start...

Plug it back in and it is all good....

watch the connector it gets old with time and brittle (worthy of a new connector sooner than later usually)

I'm more concerned with the random unplugging & swapping of wires & if it's something I should be worried about.

& yeah, those clips a super duper brittle, I think all of them busted during the swap.

I dont see why he did it anyway, I've had the batteries out of mine a few times and only ever undid the main terminal connectors. In my experience.

You do not undo it...it gets brittle with age and falls apart....just happens when you are in the battery compartment....

think it might be from battery acid eating the plastic....seen a few that that connector fails....
