Aspiring Delica Owner

Hi My name is Jon - I am an aspiring Delica owner - am wondering if any of you could give me your top 10 or wish list of info you would like to have known or wish you would have gotten (in terms of specs or anything else) prior to buying/importing your Delica - also from what I can see on the site - I have seen good reviews on a dude named Daniel with help in importing a vechicle - do any of you have any other contact ppl - either private or independant who you would recommend - any and all help would be appriciated :) Jon

Right now, I would recommend buying one local in Vancouver. The prices are very competitive and you can test drive, have a mechanic look at it ect... The market is a buyers market right now. I see Delicas for between $8000-$10000 and quite a few of them are closer to the $8500. You would save yourself maybe $500 - $1000 if you import your own and then there is no telling how much you need to make it right. Somehting you can see, feel, drive, inpsect and even walk away from is worth it. No walking away from your Delica if it arrives and isn't what you expected.

Good Advice :) I have been receiving emails from Terra2Importers of what they have - any recommendations of what are good places that carry Delica's in there fleet?

I got my Delica from Japanoid. They don't usually have Delicas in stock (they sell much too quickly for that), but you can test drive their demonstrator, then they'll bring one over for you and do the compliance work. The transaction is like buying any other used car: hand over the money, get keys and paperwork, go get insurance and plates.

Check http://www.craigslist.org or http://www.buyandsell.ca
Both places have lots of listing of what's locally available. If you want to do the import route you can PM MardyDelica as I'm pretty sure he imports them but doesn't really advertise. Terra2 has an interesting site that shows you new Delica daily but you'll have to wait close to 4 months to get it and they're only a 3rd party so can't even garantee the grading of the vehicle. Your choice.

Try Craigslist there a tons, check to see if extra work has been done or just the bare minimum to pass the OPP. Fluids, belts, waterpump ect... should be done. Some are just off the boat probably nothing done so hence the lower cost.

I picked up my super exceed from maximum overdrive for $11,800 came with 4 new yokohamas, fully compliant, 2 new ac delco battery installed, water pump, tbelt, tensioners, thermostat changed, all belts changed, 4 new shocks, both tire rods changed, alignment done, all fluids and filters changed, front hub repacked, both rotors and drum machined with new brakes all around, shackle bushings changed, sway bar bushing replaced, fuel pump overhauled, new cd mp3 installed. i am extremely impressed and pleased with the servicing was done. buy locally so that you have the opportunity to test drive and check the servicing done in front of you. best of all, you will get all the support for your vehicle.

Can anyone speak to high versus low roof? Is it just an perference or esthetic thing? Is there another benifit besides the obvious of more room?

I see that there are all different styles of roofs ie: crystal-lite, one sunroof, 2 sunroofs etc - is there a website that shows and the different factory options or are these modifications?

Also - with the Chamoxix. Do they all have that ugly Matchbox car race stripping? If so - how easily can it be removed? I like the look of them but are the really any more of an outdoor vechicle or is it just a gimmic? What is the appeal of them?

With the brushguards - is there a difference between the painted white beefer looking ones and the chrome? Is it again just an esthetic or perference thing?

The hot/cold boxes and the monitor TV's does anyone have or use them? How well do they work? Do they short out easily? How much energy do they burn? General opinions?

Hi, first, diff, beteween low roof & high roof, low roof seems to be small headroom & space inside, while high roof is bigger big advantage.
dont need to upgrade if you need more space later depends on your neeed. the price is almost the same or ssame price.
some people buy low roof as they need it for parking underground & to lower the cost of ferry fee . as its lower than high roof.
As i do own a high roof 92 super exceed. i prepare high roof more room ,as the crystal light roof is much nice for me to have. even sometime crystal roof cover malfunction which cable or plastic clip strip. its just depends on your choice.
also look into the price you can afford & the what kind of service they done on it, its a must & important as this delica do breakdown if you dont do service.

High-roof gives you more room, but doesn't fit in a lot of underground parking. With a roof rack, a high roof Delica is an overheight vehicle on BC Ferries. Crystal Light is way cool and is not as bad as it looks in the summer, but the shades can fail and are a pain to fix. I have two dead ones myself.

I'm tall (185 cm) and have ample headroom in my high-roof Delica. I'm not sure this would be the case in a low-roof model.

White = Exceed, chrome = Super Exceed.

Not sure what ALL the particulars are in the Chamonixx package are, but it's usually the one with double bench seats. And as for the striping... it's a gimmick, it doesn't make the van go any faster. And it's just a sticker, so it will come off (with a little patience). We pulled off all the stickers on the Moon Machine, and I agree with another poster on this forum, Delicas are one of the few vehicles that actually looks good in white.

Having both a high and low roof can honestly say it just what you prefer the most. I take my low roof fishing with 3 buddies with two guys over 6' 3"-5" (quite taller then my 6') and there is never any shortage of head room. And everybody raves that my P25 is the most comfortable of all the trucks we have driven together in over the 12 years fishing together; four fish cat's (2 deflated), four guys, coolers and plenty of leg room for the guys that get the back. Bar color is a preference also, me I don't want to be pushing trees, and branches, out of the way with shiny chrome tubes.
