Re: What Diesel Fuel Additive do you use?
I use the BEST product out there right now (in my opinion).
BIOMEER by Cavolution
Check it out for yourself... biomeer.ca
12pk of 1 litre bottles only $99 - recommended 1L for every 100L of fuel...so having to use only 750ml of each bottle actually gives you 15 applications for $99 ($6.60/appication).
Best results after 6 applications...I just filled up with my 4th (so have only had 3 applications) and i'm already getting 2mpg more per tank of gas.
Another great thing is that it's local...you can go pick up a 12pk after you visit CVI or Mardy in Richmond.
Let me know what you think.

Re: What Diesel Fuel Additive do you use?
I used to use Howe's in the three diesels that preceded this one, (two large Ford trucks and a VW Golf), and was quite satisfied with it. I remember getting it at truck stops in large jugs, and had a little tin mug that I'd use to chuck a little in the tank before filling. Can you still get the large jugs? Also, is the consumption of it as high as you make it seem? using a 350 mL bottle on a 60L tank seems a bit much if you ask me...that little tin cupful did a 75L tank in the Fords and worked fine.FalcoColumbarius wrote:The best product I have come across is called "Howe's". I have tried a product called "Power Service Cetane Booster" and would definetely not recommend it; my fuel consumption went from 500 kilometres per 60 litres down to 400 kilometres in the first time using it. You can get Howe's at Lordco. It retails at eight bucks and change for a 350 ml bottle, which is one tank full worth ~ but if you buy a case of twelve it goes down to five bucks a bottle. It is recommended to use one of these bottles every time you fill up in the Winter and every second time you fill up in the Summer. It may appear pricey at first glance but in the long run I think it is much cheaper, especially with the sudden increase in the price of diesel these days. Have you noticed the price of Gasoline has gone down to $1.31 but diesel is still at $1.50? Peculiar considering that diesel is a by product of Gasoline...![]()

Re: What Diesel Fuel Additive do you use?
This is an old thread and I was a noob when I posted this. At that time I was following the directions on the bottle. Since then Lordco has been carrying the bigger bottles that you speak of and I typically throw an eyeballed ounce into the tank every time I'm filling up, which is considerably cheaper. I think back to those little bottles and wonder of I read them wrong, but I'm pretty sure it told me to add the bottle every second fill. The good thing about Howe's is if you put in more than is required it doesn't damage the engine. I haven't seen those 350ml bottles in a while.RadarGrrl wrote:I used to use Howe's in the three diesels that preceded this one, (two large Ford trucks and a VW Golf), and was quite satisfied with it. What's one of those big jugs going for these days? I seem to recall them being around the $18 mark, which you could make cheaper by buying them in boxes of four.FalcoColumbarius wrote:This is an old thread and I was a noob when I posted this. Re: What Diesel Fuel Additive do you use?
That's about right $17 & change. Sometimes they go on sale, as well.

I highly recommend adding diesel as an additive. Has worked great for me so far.

Re: What Diesel Fuel Additive do you use?
If you're going to be using JP-8, make sure you get some Stanadyne Lubricity Formula from Lordco. $11/bottle and it will provide the lubrication you will need. If I remember right it will treat roughly 10 tanks of fuel, so $1 extra per fill is a pretty good deal.RadarGrrl wrote:I was thinking maybe some JP-8...Mr. Flibble wrote:I highly recommend adding diesel as an additive. Jet Fuel is a VERY dry fuel and needs help preventing destruction of your seals. I run it quite often with no problems and no change in performance, but be warned, LUBRICATE.

Why on Earth would you want to put paraffin into your Space Gear?RadarGrrl wrote:I was thinking maybe some JP-8...Mr. Flibble wrote:I highly recommend adding diesel as an additive. Has worked great for me so far.
I remember I was working on a job papering a lobby in North Van when this character walked in and asked "Who drives the Delica?"konadog wrote:This thread reminds me I miss The Pinkfingers, the OP. Heaps good guy who just vanished from the forum.

Re: What Diesel Fuel Additive do you use?
I did finally make it to a Lordco, where I had a look at the Stanadyne. Ye Gods, that stuff is expensive...over $60 for a jug of the stuff, whereas the Howe's I'm familiar with, (and find quite satisfactory), is around $25 for a similarly sized jug, both treating similar volumes of fuel for a given amount. Yes, I went with the Howe's....

For real? I pay $17 and change for the big bottle (just one) that comes four to a box at Lordco. Is there a bigger jug?RadarGrrl wrote:...., whereas the Howe's I'm familiar with, (and find quite satisfactory), is around $25 for a similarly sized jug, both treating similar volumes of fuel for a given amount.
