L300 automatic slow shifting, kick down cable?

Post by north54 »

Hey all,

I'm loving my van and the help I've been receiving on this forum. My next issue is when I'm driving the van seems to wanna climb in revs and won't shift till I let off the gas a bit. Its an automatic transmission.

I'm mostly noticing this going from 2nd-3rd when I'm on a slight grade. Chris (Impalator) You have a great thread on the kick down cable adjustment which I'm sure will fix my concern.

Anyone else had this issue of revs climbing/no shift until you let off the gas a bit?

Cheers all.

Yes. I adjusted the cable and it was much better. You just park it and shift it into N. Then go under located the adjusting nut and loosen it off. Then pull the cable tight and cinch down the nut again. Once done check that the engine wont start in anything but P and N. Then go for a drive.
