Quick "door ajar" light question for anyone
Quick "door ajar" light question for anyone
Could someone check for me if the rear liftgate turns on the "door open" indicator on the dash. I am 99% sure it does and am betting I have a broken wire between the hatch and the body but just want to be sure before I tear into it.

My "door-is-a-jar" light illuminates when the rear gate is open, yes.
My question for everyone else is, does anyone know how to fix the gate lock switch? Mine will lock the rear gate, but won't unlock it. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Often I have to push multiple times for mine to unlock.
It seems like it is trying but getting hungup I think mine just needs a bit of lube. When I get around to prying off the door panel and looking at it I'll take a pic, but tomorrow I'm going skiing for a week so it'll wait.

I had to hold mine down for a bit the first couple of times to get it to go, if you hold it it will keep trying.mararmeisto wrote:My "door-is-a-jar" light illuminates when the rear gate is open, yes.

My rear door lock sometimes sticks part way between locked and unlocked. You can feel it go over centre with the key, and if it sticks at that point, the remote actuator won't budge it.
Some day I will take it apart and relubricate it.

I have the same issue, I read somewhere that there might be a disconnected wire.mararmeisto wrote:My question for everyone else is, does anyone know how to fix the gate lock switch? Mine will lock the rear gate, but won't unlock it. Thoughts? Suggestions?

My problem ended up being a switch in the latch. It had just become dirty. If you are having any problems, it is easy enough to undo the latch and lower it down enough to soak it with some brake cleaner, blast it with air then regrease it all and give it a try. You dont need to pull the panel or nothing unless you really want to get the thing all the way out. There are 2 switches at the latch, one for the door open signal the other one has something to do with the door locks as best I could tell.
