Front Blower Motor

Post by CREGAN »

Hey all. I had an issue with my front fan not working this summer, but thanks to some friendly help I got it sorted (fuse issue). Now my fan motor has been fairly loud and not really pumping out with great force. Well the last couple of days when I turn the van on the fan does nothing. No life.... until I hit tap the bottom area under the glove box and then it works. Well, sort of. So I guess what I am asking is can I pull the motor once again and clean it or refurb it in any way or do I just try to find another vendor to bend me over? Are there any north american/ direct replacements that I could get (like a montero? or a ram50?), because I am getting slightly saddened by having to pay incredibly large sums of money whenever any little thing goes wrong. Anyone got part numbers?

It is supposed to drop down to -22 for a high on Thursday so that should be fun with no blower. Awesome.

Im wondering if you can get a measurement of the connections
and simply substitute something else in there?
To bad there weren't wreckers in Sk and AB that have L400's

I can't see a wrecker charging much for one since it's an unknown
how long it will last.

Craig, have a look at this site and you should be able to get a part #. Then maybe you can cross reference it.
Heater motors are in the section titled Heater, A/C & Ventilation > Heater Unit & Piping

http://japancars.ru/index.php?route=catalog/mitsubishi

It opens in Russian. There is a 'Language' tab at the top to translate it. You can enter your chassis number and get your specific parts listings.

Good luck.

I can't find my chasis in any of the lists. I have a PE8W. It would make my day if there was one out of a gallant or something that fit and worked straight across!

Hey I just searched the UK site some more and found this part number: denso 194000-0330. Can anyone help me figure out if this is readily avaiable here in Alberta? I think it is linked to a bunch of different types of chrysler and dodge cars. Fingers crossed...

I have a PE8W as well. Super Exceed.
According to the Russian parts site, it lists 2 heater fan motors for the PE8W chassis.
For build dates:
1995-03-01 to 1995-04-02 the part # is MR206325
1995-04-03 to 2004-08-03 the part # is MR270631

Hopefully you may be able to cross reference the numbers.

A quick search revealed this:

Cool. Thanks guys. I dialed up NAPA and he has something coming in tomorrow morning that will hopefully work for $100. I pulled the old one ( it was very easy- like 10 minutes) and we are going to compare tomorrow. I gave him the denso number so we will see what happens. If that doesn't work I will try the other numbers.

One more reason I love to hate my van. It is -20 right now and -25 for ahigh tomorrow. It is going to be a chilly ride tomorrow and a ton of fun putting it back in. Why do I live here again?

Re eBay : it's amazing how some sellers try to rape you on postage. Charging more than the ladder being sent me lol.

Cold is right... Saskatoon is receiving the same system. No heater to circulate air is going to suck.

I did some more research and now that I have my old one out it looks like the Dodge Stealth is a direct fit. I need to see the depth of the hamster wheel but it looks exact. I am going to see what the NAPA star has for me in about an hour, if it doesn't line up I am going to get him to order the Stealth one.

Side note: I am not posting this to slag vendors but the current asking price for an OEM blower motor is on average from almost all vendors about $400, $75-150 used. I just want to provide all you delica owners with a more cost effective option.... because everything on our vans seems to be in the hundreds of dollars to replace. I do really appreciate the vendors and their ability to provide the parts we can not get over here.

Craig

EDIT: OK so I picked it up. Slightly different, make and dimensions. I think it will work though. I had to transplant the hamster wheel onto it. IT is definately much heavier- actually made of metal. So I am going to go home and try to clean off the gunk on the hamster wheel and put it in tonight out in the -25. I don't think I will put the dash all back together as I am almost positive something will shatter in the cold.

Eureka! It worked. Blows like a mother f-er. The part number at NAPA is: Blower Motor NHG M79341. It is from the 93 Dodge Stealth. Cost was $115.17. Hope this helps all you non-blowers out there.

Nice work! Glad that worked out. And the price was decent.
How easy was it to change the hamster wheel?

No it was super easy. All in the job took less than half an hour. It took a little persuasion to get the hamster wheel to slide off the shaft (A center punch and another set of hands) but it fit easy onto the new one. There is one little clip holding the wheel onto the shaft. That's about it.

The price is definately alot easier to take than $400. I just wished it wasn't -30 when I was doing it!

Thar she blows!!!!!!

Just switched out my blower!! My wife and I had gotten very adept at using a wrench to knock about behind the glove box at red lights, stop signs, yields, etc. over the past few weeks. That dang thing cut out about every 4 or 5 minutes. I've only tested it as I put it in, but so far so good!!

And you're right, getting the hamster wheel off is by far the hardest part.

Thanks so much for the write-up!!! What would have taken days with finding and sourcing parts now took a total of about two hours, most of which was driving to and from Napa and getting that dang hamster wheel off. I ended up putting two pieces of leftover flooring between the wheel and the motor and resting that flooring across the gap between a coffee table and a rocking chair (I don't have the strictest definition of a shop). Then I used a Robertson screwdriver and a hammer to tap out the blower motor. Crude perhaps, but effective!

Thanks again!!
