I wonder if it would have come out quicker had the winch turners wore ice skates?

Even funnier were the dumb ass comments people made after..
What was he doing on the ice.
How did they get the ramps attached to the car
It was staged..

Funny...
Ice fishing... It happens...
How did he open the door to get out.. he didn't. The windows were open and you crawl
out as the vehicle goes in .. hopefully slowly :)
Loop ropes around the rear tires with a pole.
They were lucky it wasn't that deep where he went in.. Here in Saskatchewan
there is always a truck that goes in early in the season.. usually in 40 ft of water
and you need scuba gear and someone who is paid enough to go in to do it with
diving skills.

As for staged.. who stages a vehicle into the water with his bag left
on the seat full of stuff.

Excellent video.. I thought the winch idea was extremely intelligent.. very cool!
Thanks for the vid.

that is an awesome vid! now that' assuming the truck was in at just the right depth and you could try and wedge the logs under it!

man, I'm thinkin a home made version of that long lever winch! made of metal that you can spike into the ground and just strap a log onto.

You don't have to wedge logs under it. Just have them straight down as the vehicle is pulled it will ride up the slats which will go under as the vehicle comes up. Hardest thing would be looping the tow cable around something while it's under the water. And the fun of using the chainsaw on the ice to remake the hole.

correct on that one. and still assuming the rest of that ice was strong enough! just imagine, it's halfway out, and ccccccrack...splash! doh. but there's certainly a depth that this wont work with and you're waiting till spring to swim under and attaching a tow rope. lol.

I saw a youtube video last year on my icefishing forum of an Escalade
being raised from the depths. They had a diver go under to hook up the
cable and then winched it up with a tow truck. There was a metal pole assembly
over the hole.

I can't recall exactly what the captions were about but it seems to me
it was insurance needing it up.

The Russian way of doing it was more cool.

That's the Ruskie way of doing things. During the great space race the Americans discovered that their pens didn't work in zero gravity so they spent over a million bucks (in the '60s) designing a pen that would work in zero gravity. The Ruskies used pencils.

Falco.
Sent from my smart pad, using a pen.
