Learning Electronics (again)

A long time ago I knew some stuff about electronics. I have since forgotten most of it. However, I stumbled across this book:

I have already ordered all the bits and bobs from www.makershed.com for the experiments in it, as well as a new multimeter.

Given that I have been having electrical problems with my Delica and the house, I figured it was time to re-learn what I have forgotten and proceed beyond it!

The book is great, I recommend it to everyone on here for a learning experience.

(You do spend some money intentionally destroying electronics, but the intent here is to learn how they work).

I have been working my way through this book, and I must say it is great.

I should be able to tackle any Delica related electrical project after I get through this book!

Looks like your book has some really cool experiments. I take it that the two "kits" in your photo are what the website describes as "Component Packs 1 and 2"?

Looks like a nice set and I cannot imagine life without multimeter.

Things I have found helpful (from adding fuel injection, wiring a truck with nothing, re-wiring boats):

Have a plan from the start
run everything through a fuse
put a power off on batteries
on big circuits us relays and circuit breakers
colour code wires
make connections environment proof and protect wires
take your time and be methodical as you go
watch your amps and run the right gauge wires
make it very clean and easy to access
remember the KISS principle
if you add aux system keep the house and start separate.
