Panasonic 6-CD changer; radio region setting

Post by patriceboivin »

Well the CD changer isn't where I expected it to be, someone pulled it out of the van before exporting it I suspect.
By now the CD standards have been updated and it could be that the original CD changer wouldn't have been able to read newer CDs anyway.
Has anyone tried replacing the CD changer (just the CD changer)? I expect it has a weird pin connector.

And I haven't searched yet but sometimes car radios have a switch to tell them the region, not sure if that's the case with this one.
To find out I would have to pull the radio out of the dash, get the exact model number and search, or maybe open the casing to look at the integrated circuit board.

Right now I can catch one radio station (89.9FM), at least it's not a horrible station.

jap radios work on lower frequencys to ours, well they do here in the UK, 20 Mhz lower, you may need a band expander? it adds the missing Mhz to your search range, the only problem is your radio will not display the extra 20 Mhz so when your tuned into a station it wont show the correct frequency on the display
you probably better pulling the oe radio and slotting a newer one in that you can play your Cd's on

yes, except I have a Royal Exceed with a karaoke machine in the back, and radio controls are back there as well as in the front.

(my 8 year old likes having control of the radio) :-)
