My wife and I own a little vintage industrial shop called http://www.trade-roots.ca here in Victoria and recently bought the L300 as our stores delivery vehicle, with the dual purpose of getting us off our butts to explore this fine island and beyond. We've had it a month now and we're are absolutely smitten with it, it truly is the swiss army knife i've always been searching for!
Just a quick shout out to this fine forum and the collective knowledge that we've tapped into while going through the acquisition process. We hope that we can do a meet up with you all at some point and soak up some more knowledge and meet other families who are surely cut from the same cloth!
On the mechanical side, I have to admit i've had a bit of a tough go so far with the van. Every mechanical engagement I've attempted had me retreating, mostly due to stripped, seized and rusted out bolted on items. I attempted to do the wet floor fix but was unable to take the fascia body panels off after removing all the headlights as the screws were seized. Got to drill and replace with self-tapping screws i think. Also tried to remove the bull bar and it looks like I wasn't the first. Most nuts are broken off, stripped or stuck. Round 2, L300. It looks like every bolted on accessory is going to fight tooth and nail.... wish me luck ? lol.
Some posts to come from us... we've been inspired by some of the curtain work of previous members and will create a post where we detail the changes that Bowser will go through. It is really neat to see how other members are dialling in the vehicle for their different uses. I have to say Falco your cargo bay mod is exactly what the doctor ordered, delivering furniture then switching gears and camping rapidly is what we are after. I remember reading a more extensive post about it but can't for the life of me find it over the last few days... point me in the right direction?
A big hello from us to you!
