festoon LEDs

Post by patriceboivin »

Well I bought a couple, the bulb for the rear festoon light doesn't come on. I thought well, might as well switch to LEDs.

They were selling 28mm LED replacements, the bulb I have is a bit shorter (24mm?) and I thought "ah, no problem, I'm sure it can fit. There is a flexible end there."

Um well, no. It can't fit. There is just no way.

Ironically I checked at Canadian Tyre for a replacement festoon bulb, the only one they had is about 28mm as well, if it's not 30mm. I think it actually is longer than the LEDs!

Now I guess I am looking for 24mm long LEDs or replacement bulbs. :-)

As well as replacement tubes for the ceiling lights. There isn't much different between the low, medium and high settings both for the amber and the white fluorescent lights. I'm thinking aquarium shops :?

I spent about 2 hours washing, buffing the van (my wife is away at a conference this weekend). Looks good today, tomorrow if it rains... oh well. I think the clear coat on the van is a bit tired and it doesn't keep its shine as well as if the van was new.

Oh and I found out there is a chrome shop about 10 minutes from where I work. When they first opened 40 years ago they specialized in fixing up chrome bumpers, but now they do medical instruments and other things. They can still do them though. I am starting to stare at the bull bar, rear bar and side steps... :? I wish I was rich.

The adventure continues...

maybe mine is different... but I have 28mm ones and they don't fit, just a bit too long.

good thing they don't cost an awful lot

I haven't tried mine in the front of the cabin, just the rear festoon. There may be more room in the front one.

I just ordered a bunch off superbright, for all the interior and the side marker lights. I'll post here when I get them and installation etc etc.
