Re: ROLLCALL!!! - New and old members!
yep. that's Tessen.
not many changes since I bought it. My roof rack and rear ladder are different. Interior is about the same. Changed the transmission and have done a LOT of engine work since I bought it.
Front end needs a bit of minor rust repair and rock protection. I plan to fix that with sandblast/rock guarding sometime soon.
thanks for finding that link Kevin.

Re: ROLLCALL!!! - New and old members!
Ordered in late March 2009 from Mardy, took delivery June 27th (had to wait for its 15th birthday). One of the first L400 in North America.
51,600 kms then, almost 112,000 kms now. Lots of minor mods. No major repairs. Major brake maintenance in Mexico
Been all over BC and down to mid west-coast Mexico.
Daily driver, no issues

I drop in here from time to time to reminisce and see what's happening on the other side of the earth!
Mark, from Australia. Lived in Canada/USA for 14 months or so from 2007-2009. We bought an L300 and did a North American lap, there's threads around here with details. Got engaged on a mountain top near Canmore and my wife and I still wear the wedding rings we got made by the jeweller at the foot of that mountain. Will be back again some day (soon, hopefully).
i've been out and about lately in my 2008 D5, that I've owned for just over 2 years now. We love it! They're becoming more common in Australia (maybe 20-30 across the country!), but we're yet to be fully accepted by the L300/L400 crowd
(and I know a few of them frequent here!)
Oh, and it's now rocking a delica.ca sticker in honour of our old L300.

Nice!! When did the D5 production start? I wonder when we'll start seeing them. Any major driving differences from the L400?Grungle wrote:I drop in here from time to time to reminisce and see what's happening on the other side of the earth!

The D5 started in 2007, so...yeah...you guys have a bit of a wait!macro wrote: Nice!! When did the D5 production start? I wonder when we'll start seeing them. Any major driving differences from the L400?
The easiest way to describe the D5 is a Mitsubishi Outlander (I assume you a have Outlanders over there?) with a van body. It's based on the outlander platform and uses the same engine and driveline components.
I haven't driven an L400, but the D5 is supposed to be a little more "lightweight", in that it's not as capable off road, but is more maneuverable, less thirsty, a little smaller but with more interior space and ground clearance, and better equipped.
It's great to drive around town - it corners really flat and doesn't feel like a big, heavy 4x4. It has been surprisingly good off road, but is definitely lacking in pure off-road ability, and there are very few modifications around for them. It has a CVT gearbox, which is good, but doesn't have the same ability as a true low-range transfer case so it struggles with very steep climbs, deep sand and slow rock crawling. Still, the trade-off for that is a super-smooth ride, better fuel economy and excellent traction control, so for 99% of the time the CVT is a good thing.
