Nice picts, always good to see the ecode on the headlights, only takes a few bad apples to bring bad attention to the group.

yeah, my headlights are proper, but I'm having a bit of a time getting them aimed correctly... never had projector style headlights before, so I'm not exactly sure what the beam patterns are supposed to look like. They're safe for oncoming traffic right now, but there's a bit of a dark spot that makes driving at night on an unlit road a bit freaky without going to high-beams (which one of them seems to have burnt out).

Hi, you need a headlight aiming machine to correct the proper light beam position. not easy, i have a friend in richmond who do all the aiming of headlight to all of my delica. when they inspect it for inspection. it cost $ 40 to do it. they have a good machine.
if you need help i can give you the number & you can bring it to them.

I find that the headlight aiming maching is good to get it dialed in, but if its still off for you, its only 3 screws you adjust to aim it. go on to a dark road at night with out street lights and adjust them so they work better for you. might be hard on the mainland to find a dark road with no lights or traffic. but you get the idea....

The headlamp alignment tool currently required by BC inspections does not align Delica headlamps . The tool required does not attach to the vehicle but rolls in front of the vehicle and is aligned to the headlamp before checking the beam `pattern` alignment . Most vans passing BC inspection still are not aligned correctly . I found the correct tool through Lordco and have purchased it for $650 but it makes a reallly nice job of setting up the headlamps. Hopefully BC inspections will catch on to european alignment tools and make them a necessary tool for carring out inspections so as to make sure all these expensive headlamp conversions are pointing the correct direction and not still `blinding` people .

no matter how much adjustment you do manually, it will never be as correct as if you do it with the infrared machine. it is 100% accurate. I think Brian K made it required for all inspection facility doing Japanese Inspection

We are using the infrared machine but it is not yet required by BC inspections .

Sorry to post on a topic that appears to be old. But I am trying to sort out what lighting and reflectors are required for my new L400 before it arrives. Green1 it looks like you have removed your original posts and no longer suggest rewiring the side maker lights to act as both running lights and signals. Is this because the original suggestion was missleading, or legally not allowed? If this is no longer allowed, does that mean a light needs to be added to the vehicle? Thanks

As far as I know, to pass government inspections the van needs some sort of DRLs. Most are done with a relay on the headlights. My van also ended up with reflectors on the sides on the front and back. I'm not sure if those are needed or not though.

If you check your fuse panel inside the vehicle you may find a fuse that is powered only when the key is in the on position. If you use LED strip DRLs you can power straight off the fuse without any problems. It's simple and requires no relay.

I powered my LEDs that way.

Yes reflectors are required, red back each side and yellow forward. Can tire has them, cheap too. Forget powered reflectors, too complicated.

I imported my van in May this year but it is a V6 so may be slightly different electrically than the diesels.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response. My Delica should be arriving between the 5th and 10th. I will check for the fuse and try and go that route. Cheers
