Electrical problems '94 L400

Post by nicgarvin »

So when I first put my '94 L 400 on the road in Canada I had to have some of my lights hooked up as day time running lights. Ever since them my wiring has been a little glitchy, like my dash lights come on when I use my signals. Nothing to crazy but still glitchy.
The other day my van got way to glitchy, my dash lights and my left turn signal got stuck on some how. I can't figure out how to fix this. I don't have any sort of electrical knowledge base, and I don't know where to start. I look the steering wheel cover off and disconnected the wiring harness for the turn signals. I did that a couple times but it did not help. I also checked for blown fuses and found none.
I don't even have a map of the fuses to know what they power. Dose anyone have any info or resources for learning about the electrical and how to work on it. I am currently traveling in the United States and I haven't found anyone who can test it for me or help me fix it.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Sounds like they wired the DRL's wrong in the first place.
Any mechanic should be able to have a look. The Delica is no different than any other vehicle as far as wiring goes. Its just packed a little tight in some places.

What lights did they wire to come on as DRL's? Do you have separate lights or did they wire existing lights for a DRL's?
Do you know where they attached the relay for the DRL's? This may be a good place to start.
Sounds like maybe power is feeding back through your dash lights from the relay some how.
