L400 Current Draw - Storage - Help

Post by Triumph73 »

I am trying to troubleshoot the source of my battery drain. When stored, all the doors closed the current draw from the battery is 60mA.... is this normal. It seems high. The current draw goes up to 300mA when I open a door. I have removed all of the light bulbs from the doors. Does the dashboard warning light draw that much current??

Would like to know if that is in range before I start tearing anything else apart.....haha.

60mA is about right for your clock and radio which draw power just keep their memory for time and station settings.

The keyless entry may also draw a small amount in standby mode as it waits for a key-fob signal to open doors. There are no other factory installed items that draw power when the key is off.

If you're worried about battery drain while in storage get a battery disconnect switch and install it in the cab.

Thanks!

I will disconnect the radio and clock and see how low the draw goes. I have installed a battery disconnect switch for the winter storage, but I was curious if 60 mA was normal.
