Quick question:
Do you have the captains chairs or bench seat for your 2nd row?
Why do you like it?
Which is more versatile?
I don't have kids so I am not worried about seating capacity, but rather versatility for camping and road trips.
I think I would prefer the 2 captains chairs, but I haven't sat in either yet.
Are the 2nd row seats in L400's interchangeable? i.e. if I have one with a bench, can I swap in two captains chairs? Or are the rails/mounting entirely different?
Thanks!

Re: 2nd Row seats
I'll start by mentioning the obvious:
Which version of a Delica are you referring to?
You mention L400 further along in the post so one can only assume that is the vehicle you are talking about. But I don't like assuming.
In my L300 I like the Cpt. chairs in the middle as it makes for a more flexible floor plan. They don't get removed when I do my camper conversion (just folded down). I have sat in them and mine are a little wobbly. But no one has complained so far. Plus I like to spin them around sometimes to see if anyone will sit that way while driving. But it is always the same excuse "It makes me sick." I think they just can't handle not seeing where they are going.

Sorry yes, you are right with your assumption I was thinking about the L400 specifically. However, I suppose they are similar in their seating configurations.
Thanks for your response

Re: 2nd Row seats
The bench seats and the captains chairs aren't interchangeable. There are different rails on the bottom. I have captain's chairs in both my L300 and L400 (2nd Gen). I chose those so my passengers could play with their seating style anyway they liked. If you like more leg room, slide back, the other wants to sit up straight, go right ahead.. and with the captain's chairs, you get arm rests too...
On a side note, we locked our chair at a 90 degree angle facing out the sliding door... had our friend strapped in, and opened the door and had him hold a GoPro on a stick out to get some nice low shots of our car going up the snowy mountains~
Lastly, I like how the L400 chairs can virtually fold any way you like and also turn around so we can have a nice dinner with a small table for 5 in the back~

Re: 2nd Row seats
The bench seat in the middle can slide back and forth for leg room. It also spins 90 and 180 degrees to allow for a few different configurations for seating and carrying things. The bench seat and its side jump seat fold completely flat and allow a double air mattress to be laid out fully supported...no boards required.
The base model seats in the basic Exceed edition are not comfortable on long trips but if you get the Chamonix model with the bench seat the foam padding is better so is the covering material. Usually a nice suede or leather on some units. Very swanky!
Captains chairs are nice and spin/slide/recline independently, some Delica's with captains chairs also have the integrated foot rest in the kick panel behind the front seats for mid passenger comfort. Usually only on the top models. The captains chairs also fold flat and allow an air mattress to be laid acorss them but the middle point would need support due to the gap.
Personally I wish I had the buckets and there is a way to convert a bench unit to buckets because the floor pan has the threaded connections for both. But you're swapping carpet, tracks and seats to do this.

Yeah I joined the Dark Side because the medical plan is top shelf!

Re: 2nd Row seats
I forgot about this!
I bought the model with second row captains chairs because I didn't like the jump seat on model with the 2nd row bench.
Very happy so far
