A few questions for L400 owners before I purchase

Mitsubishi Delica L400 production commenced in 1994 -- After much anticipation, the L400 arrived on Canadian Soil in 2009!

A few questions for L400 owners before I purchase

Post by jthom »

I owned and then sold a 1993 L300 a while ago. I'm considering buying another delica - a newer one (97-99). I have to find answers to a few questions before I do so.

I may be moving to Eastern Canada.
Are there now shops in/around Ontario/Quebec that will work on Delicas? This is something I didn't enjoy while owning my L300 - there were only a couple of shops (in BC) that would repair it, and I have no interest in doing repairs myself.

Are the newer Delicas quieter in the cab? My L300 was so noisy inside I could barely hear the stereo.

Are the newer Delicas more powerful? My L300 could barely make it up hills.

Thanks for your help - if these topics have been covered, I apologize - feel free to direct me to the appropriate boards/discussions.

I have an L400. I moved from BC to Toronto.

I've never driven an L300 but I've never had an issue with power and I've taken it pretty much everywhere. On mountain passes it's still slow and steady though.

It's quiet and ohhhhhhhh so comfortable.

In Toronto there's RightDrive, in London there's Bonsai Rides. Anywhere can work on it though, if you supply the parts. It's just a van. Anything else, feel free to PM me!

I have and still drive both... The difference is night and day for sound. Ride and everything is more pleasant as well.

As for power, my L300 struggled up most hills... the L400 made it up with ease and no smoke to boot~ I suggest you go with diesel though if you are concerned for power. The L400 V6 has less torque than the 2.8 diesel. I liked both, but decided to keep my diesel only because my kids like the color. My gas runs great for highway and city as the engine is even more quiet and the transmission is smoother.
