I blew the pro comps carrying a heavy load at -15C on a hunting trip last fall. The nitrogen charge doesn't like cold and heavy loads.
Oil(shocks) foams under heavy load negating the shock effect so the smart engineers introduced nitrogen loading to reduce that problem. Think of your tailgate and it's shocks.. Everyone has to get them replaced (or reloaded) eventually. The parts are still good but the charge is gone.
Oil only shocks are supposed to have a larger oil capacity. The shock companies are phasing out oil only shocks. I'll only know after I try them for a year.

So you were happy with the procomp's, except they didn't do well in the cold/heavy loads so you want to try something that will work in those situations?
I only ask because I was going to go with procomp's for now

I just called Lordco and was quoted $85/ea for the front and they couldn't find the rear. I used these part numbers:
Procomp part numbers
Front : 914510
Rear : 923509 (non-ECS)
For a stock L400 without ECS.
Yikes!

Lordco can be a rip-off sometimes. Try North Shore Auto Parts or North Shore Off Road. NSAP might be called "Auto Parts Plus" now, they are still there on First Street, one street west of Fell in North Van.

North Shore Off-Road was very competitive on Pro-Comps for my land Cruiser.

I have the RS9000s. they are adequate but after 4 years, I have noticed that they are rusting rather quickly. they still work fine, but I suspect I might only get another year or two out of them.
Roads!? Who the hell needs roads!?,

Yeah, the performance is fine but they are inclined to rust. Had mine for, I guess seven years now. Still good but rusted on the outside. I think when they are due for replacement, I'll paint them with some good aromatic industrial coating. Perhaps in orange to match my callipers and drums.almac wrote:I have the RS9000s. they are adequate but after 4 years, I have noticed that they are rusting rather quickly. they still work fine, but I suspect I might only get another year or two out of them.
No, on second thought ~ it'll be a green. a complementary colour to the callipers.
