Cyclone Vortex

Post by FredVenne »

Well, there seems to always be something to improved fuel mileage/HP like magnet on fuel lines, hydrogen etc. So the mechanic that I visit twice a year has a whole shelf of these cyclone vortex thingy that is said to improve your m/g from 5 to 10%.

Anyone has tried something like this?

I'll take that as a no. For 60$, I think I might just put it in.

They dont work. Many have tested them in real conditions and the tests showed the only improvement was to the guy/gal that sold it and lined their pockets with your money.

The idea behimd them is they swirl the air flow...and claim it will mix better with the fuel.....that doesn't matter in a diesel as the air charge goes in first.....intake valve closes....then the fuel is sprayed into the cylinder when the piston reaches TDC. So this gadget won't do anything beneficial. A diesel will develop power based on the amount of air that goes into the cylinder.....more air=more power. The turbo combined with the bends in the air intake all but eliminates any swirl benefit.

A gas fuel injected engine will see no measurable changes......an older carb'd engine actually might see improvement.

Go check out Mighty Car Mods on youtube who have Dyno tested this device....they had ZERO improvement and they gave it all the best chances for success...'FAIL'

Awesome, thanks for that! You saved me 60$!!! So basically what will make a difference is, good lubrication, air flow, clean injectors, regular basic maintenance, tire pressure and very important, lightest foot...

Cheers!
