Replacing the integrated GPS & Climate Control screen

Post by Croftcastles »

I have an electrical issue and hoping that another member has a solution.

The stock GPS unit also controls the front(And rear) climate options. The GPS shows the unit is still in Japan and from what I've read, there's no saving that. I have unplugged the electrical box in the back (The brains) but then am stuck with the front climate control stuck on max air or none at all.. with no options of where it's directed (Feet, face or window/defog).

The question is, is it possible to wire in the video cables into a new DVD/CD 7" screen and still operate the climate controls with touchscreen? In theory all the brains are in the electrical box wired behind the back seat and it's only sending an image to the screen.

Benefit to this is that I could then have bluetooth, dvd player, fm stereo AND climate control all in one decent sized screen.

Any thoughts from the electronic guru's if this is possible? Let me know.

Absolutely.

I've done it. It was pretty straightforward, though my van already had an aftermarket stereo, which made it a little easier. You will need the LCD climate control box, and a new centre stack fascia.
