Hopeful L300 chamonix owner

Post by AdamMaltyNational »

Hello members,

I have been interested in Delicas for quite some time now. Growing up I was always in love with old westfalias, as I am everyone is, and I love the idea of small vans for big trips. I live in Regina Saskatchewan so a westfalia is only good for about 4 months here due to the extreme cold winter. I know a lot of people who own them then park them in a garage for 8 months.

I love the idea of a badass van and I think I have found that with the Delica.

I have a line on a relatively inexpensive 1993 L300 Chamonix that I am looking to pull the trigger on.

I just have one question that I am sure has been asked a thousand times but I can't seem to find an answer on the forum for. I would love to add a pop top sleeper to the van as my wife an I have 2 small kids. We love to camp and I dream of long road trips in the van.

If anyone has any info on where, or if it is even possible to have done I would love to hear more.

Thank you for tolerating my newbie questions.

Welcome to Delica Canada, Adam :M

My wagon is a 1992 (3 Oct.) Chamonix GLX P25W. I've had her for seven and an half years and the love is still there. I'm not sure if the '93 has a manual hand throttle but they are really good for warming up your wagon in both the Winter and the Summer. They are so easy to work on that even a painter like me can wrap his head around it! The Chamonix is the quintessential Winter package. Not only do they have the dual batteries with the bigger alternator, they also have the heavy duty upholstery and carpet, extra clear coats on the paint job.

How many kilometres on your prospective wagon?

Regarding the poptop ~ contact Josh. He's full of ideas and practical information when it comes to poptops.

Thanks for the info Falco!

The 93 has 180K on it. I will contact Josh for sure. We just got back from a tent camping trip and I am dreaming of camper conversions for next year!
