Puttin' on the Lift

After sitting on a lift kit from negativentropy for 18 months, I finally got around to installing it.

I figure it was around 8 hours from start to finish, including removing and replacing one of the half-shafts for new boots, checking my ABS sensors, and dealing with a broken bolt.

Everything in the kit fit perfectly. I threw on the longer Pro-Comp shocks while I was in there, and the left-rear shock wanted to occupy the same space as the bracket for the panhard bar. A little bit of grinding solved that issue.

The only other issue I ran into was a broken Stabilizer bracket bolt in the back. Had to drill it out and re-tap. Cost me half an hour, but no big deal.

Removed the running boards while I was at it. I'm going to put the driver's running board under the sliding door, since 2 of the 3 kids can't climb in at the moment.

Results: it's taller. I didn't think 2" would be such a big deal, but it's hugely noticeably. It also rides a lot better, likely due to the new (vs. 200,000km-old) shocks. The alignment is all out of whack at the moment, but I'm getting that taken care of this afternoon.

I'm happy with the result, and my next step is to get my Pajero wheels powder coated and install some 235-85-16's.

Looks great! One day when you need new rear coils, Coombs has custom ones made up for us and they made the ride fantastic with no spacers needed. Just so you know!

Yep, they give 2" of lift.

I've got a set off the new Springs, they look awesome. I was just wondering what shocks you installed with them?

I'm leaning towards the blistein. I have a feeling pro comp would be easier to acquire though.

I bought my lift from Jesse and it came with pro comps, not sure on the part number though, it's on the site somewhere!

How is the drive with this lift kit??
Do you have a better suspension travel?

It cost me a grand I think, with all the spacers and shocks and I had airbags as well. Since then I've removed the airbags, added spacers then removed all that and put the CCA heavy duty rear springs in with no spacers. Once I did that the ride was excellent in the rear. The front could use hd torsion bars to smooth it out a bit but I doubt I'll ever get those. It drives great, dives a bit under braking but that's to be expected. If you go with the longer springs in the back you'll get better travel and you can fit 31" tires easy in the back. Takes a bit of trimming and bashing to fit them in the front though.

I went with ProComp shocks. The spacers were $400, and the shocks were probably another $250. Coming from ecs shocks that may have been original, the ride is much better. Even some rattles in the cabin have gone away.

I'm having a set of Pajero wheels powder coated so I can try 235 85 16 tires, which measure out at 32".the spacers don't increase travel, but they do let you fit bigger tires, so you get more ground clearance

This will be problably a futur upgrade. I guest that you get a better ride also with the HD spring while fully loaded. What about fuel millage for a Diesel??
Does it make a big difference?

I keep close track of my milage and I get an average of 12.8L/100km. That's with a pretty even mix of city and highway and not going over 110km/hr. I've got a 2" lift and 31x10.5 Duratracs. I hear unmodified L400's will get closer to 10L/100km.

I have the upgraded rear coils and a 1" spacer... wow.
