sounds like Cummins time..... or a gas motor...
it is only a 2.8L diesel and remember "no replacement for displacement"
is it trailer weight or trailer wind resistance? I suspect your solution is in streamlining the trailer/truck now...

I agree with your assessment that streamlining would be a better solution(rather than chasing any further HP/TQ through more mods) given that below 80km/h it tows fine. The trailer has a lot of frontal surface area relative to my Delica, hence my comparison to "towing a parachute". Unfortunately, I don't see any way to reduce the drag unless I purchase a smaller trailer.thedjjack wrote:sounds like Cummins time..... or a gas motor...

Oh well, with the gains from my mods so far I'm satisfied that it will be OK for a few trips this coming camping season. After that, perhaps I accept the performance, or maybe I get a more powerful tow vehicle, or maybe a trailer with less wind resistance and weight(like a 16' Casita which is at least 1 foot shorter and over a foot narrower).

Maybe airbags on the trailer? Drop it down to tow on highway and raise for slower speed dirt roads etc???

I had no idea you could do that! I'm off to research that now...thedjjack wrote:Maybe airbags on the trailer? Drop it down to tow on highway and raise for slower speed dirt roads etc???

Anyone ever do a boost leak test on your turbo diesels? It is worth knowing if that compressed air is actually making it somewhere useful. Fixing the leaks will give better pickup and top end power assuming your fueling is there.

I found out tonight the previous owner stacked 3 washers behind my wastegate actuator... looking for opinions on whether an adjustment to the injection pump would help overall or if returning to stock is better?
