Group buy for people who only have lap belts

Post by fozzie »

I just got a set of these and they're a great solutions to the problem of not having 3 point seatbelts in the rear.
It cost $65 but shipping was $55. This is halved for additional sets purchased. So if anyone is looking to solve this problem, this is a good way to go.
Ill be ordering a set in the next few days. If anyone wants to see how they look I can email photos.
cheers Matt

Floor mounted shoulder harness' though they seem like a great idea do pose a risk. This is/was an issue with guys who would swap out their stock belts for a racing harness but do not have a roll cage. By bolting the belt to the floor you pose a risk of spine compression in a collision. For this exact reason CACC rules state shoulder harness must be mounted at shoulder height or higher, to either a harness bar or a roll cage. Meaning if ones shoulders are higher the height of the seat back/harness mount, or the seat back is to soft (as most will be being that they were not designed to take vertical load), the occupant could end worse off then if they just had the lap belt. ei paralyzed vs broken bones.

If one MUST bolt the belts to the floor, the mounting position of the shoulder harness should be places as far rear ward possible, this will allow the forces to be transmitted in a more horizontal manner and reduce the risk of spinal compression.

Just something to keep in mind.
