Best glow plugs?

Post by WillF »

Hello,
I was wondering if someone out there can recommend their favourite glow plugs for an l400 2.8. It is extremely slow and smokey starting in the morning so I think it is time to replace them.
Thanks for the help,
Will

The "Green Top" NGK's are regarded as the best. They are expensive, but superb.

Glen at Coombs Country Auto stocks them.

Question:

Are you waiting until "second click" before starting? That is, put key in, turn, watch glow plug light, wait for it to go off, then keep waiting a couple of seconds until you hear a "click". - THEN start your engine.

Wow! I replaced my glow plugs a year ago and was beginning to think it was time again already. I wasn't even aware I should wait for a second click. I always just waited for the light to go out then started. Mine has been starting rough lately.
Today, I waited for a second click (it comes from under the dash above the glove box somewhere). That makes a huge difference! Starts like a charm now.
Thanks for the info Mr Flibble.
