Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Glow Plug illumination circuit

Post by TRUTHautomotive »

So I installed a manual glow plug actuator a while ago on my 95 l300. Real simple, I just ran the solenoid signal wire to 12v and put in a push button switch in between.

I'm thinking of taking this a step further and am going to install a toggle switch because holding down that stupid freezing cold button in -20 for 30 seconds is annoying. The only issue with using a toggle is the danger that you could bump the switch on and have your glow plugs activated without realizing it  this would not be good to say the least.

My solution to this would be to have the switch also trip the glow plug indicator on the instrument cluster so when the glow plugs are on so will the dash light.

I just wanted to ask if anyone had a schematic for the instrument cluster wiring so I would know which wire to tap! I can probably figure it out by poking around with 12v to various wires but I don't want to unnecessarily go risking any components in the IC.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

There should be a complete wiring diagram in the L300 dedicated category reference forum here: http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7333

But to answer your question: the glow plug warning lamp in the instrument cluster is supplied with 12V when the key is on. The other side of the lamp goes to the control unit via a plain brown wire- the control unit connects this wire to earth to turn on the lamp.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.
