I kinda like to look of this if I can make it look good and not to tacky. Is there any reason that this wouldnt be a good idea?

I'd be concerned about how much air it will flow, especially when soaked from rain.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Ya, fair enough. I ordered a snorkel head today. Can someone get a pic of under the drives seat do I can see how you ran the tubing please? I was going to do 3.5" tubing but now I'm not sure I can. Not allot of room near that air filter housing.

It comes with a standard intake horn but I want a dust separator for mine.

Everything on aliexpress allows you to order a quantity of one. Alibaba is for larger commercial orders.

I have bought quite a lot of stuff off of aliexpress now. Including a custom double neck electric guitar, a VW stereo, sunglasses and Bluetooth headphones.

Some early shots of the snorkel im making. it needs to be trimmed down on both ends but better to long then to short as it can always be trimmed. ITs almost ready for powder coating. I put a 7 degree bend it to follow the wall of the van on the way up.

You could curve a piece of flange or sleeve around the cut, and join it at the top where it is covered by the snorkel, so you don't see the join.

You can sort of see what this guy did to his:

I just ordered the $35 cyclone snorkel head. I will probably use the RAM head most of the time, but if Mt. Rainer goes all asplodey, then I will want to have the cyclone on.

I did the the same actually. Plan on the ram air most of the time. Still waiting on it to come in. It's been almost a month now. Would like to finish the project.

I just got the snorkel head from China. It seems pretty good actually. I will try to remember to post some photos later.

It fits perfectly into my L400 snorkel. The RAM snorkel that came with it fits on outside the snorkel, the dust-trap/cyclone head fits perfectly inside the barrel of the snorkel.

The ram air that I received looks slightly different but also fits over top and I'm not a huge fan of that. I wish it would have fit inside the tube. I was really hoping to have my snorkel installed by this weekend but I have to delay it. I'm ordering an aftermarket air filter housing as the stock one is too big. I'm thinking of ordering the k&n Apollo because it will take up little space. $100 bucks on eBay.
