A/T doesn't shift after rear main seal change.

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

A/T doesn't shift after rear main seal change.

Local mechanic replaced rear main seal. Now transmission does not engage in any gear when shifter moved. The linkages seem connected ok. A/T has proper fluid level. Tranny worked fine before seal change. Any advice on where to find the problem? Thanks in advance.

That is very strange. Are you referring to the tailshaft seal?

You replaced the engine rear main seal, right? Not the transmission main seal? It could be a couple of things, from easiest to hardest to fix:

-Torque Converter drained, and not filled with fluid before reassembly. Try jacking up the back of the van and running the engine at about 2000rpm in neutral. If there's a little fluid still in the converter, it will start to turn the transmission pump which will fill the converter properly.

-Torque converter not bolted to the flex plate: I think you would have mentioned the terrifying noise this makes. This one's not exactly a mystery.

-Torque converter not engaged with the pump drive splines before assembly: the torque converter needs to be pushed back as far into the transmission as it will go before assembly. Again, this one would make it difficult to reassemble the engine, and might even bend the flex plate- it would make lots of scary noise.

Good luck, and please let us know what the fault was when you fix it!
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Check your shifter cable , maybe the mounting is loose.
