Removing rain shield.

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Removing rain shield.

Post by sailmonkeys »

Hello all. Can anyone tell me the method for removing the rain shield on my L300 without damaging it or the window frame rubber? Thanks

On the front door windows? They're all aftermarket, so can be attached in different ways, many of them obvious*.

I'm guessing yours is held on with metal brackets which can't be detached from the plastic, and disappear behind the rubber window seal? You're going to have to pull the window seal out of the door frame. It's just a U-shaped rubber seal, but it might have hardened a bit. I would use a spatula or putty knife, slip it between the rubber and the frame, and try to gently push the rubber out. Some vehicles have the clips *inside* the rubber strip, but that would be a bit weird for a Delica.

I've seen rain shields held in place eternally with adhesive foam strip which is a nightmare to remove, some where the plastic flange slips between the metal window frame and the rubber channel, and some with brackets that have knurled nuts you can unscrew to get the plastic piece off- but those are all pretty self-explanatory.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Thanks very much. Mine has clips that disappear into the rubber, so I'm going to take your advice on that and proceed cautiously.
