binding noise after front brake work

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

binding noise after front brake work

Post by joebillhill »

Hello all,
I am currently in the process of upgrading my brakes to dual piston calipers. I'ran into a hiccup that my hard lines going into the calipers were leaking, causing my friend and I to call it for the evening. As we were pushing the van into the garage there was a binding, building up tension, and crackling noise coming from the front axle area (to the best of my knowledge)
With the brake work we had to take the auto hubs off to get to the rotors. I'm fairly certain we put everything back the way it was, but I suppose I could be wrong.
Has anyone experienced this before/any ideas?
Thanks,
Joe

It could be the front hubs locking. Try lifting the front wheels off the ground and turning the wheels by hand (try both directions) to disengage the hubs.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Found out it was a combination. The brake pad wear indicator clip that was clipping the inside of the wheel rim, the braided steel line was grinding on the tire, and an inner wheel weight was clipping the clip on the caliper bracket where the hard and flex lines attach. It's a ridiculously tight fit/still needs work to not rub.

That's weird. I wonder what rims you have. On mine the only issue was routing the brake hose- everything else fits easily.

I've got the tear drop rims. We had put the brake pad with the gauge facing outward towards the wheel and it was just clipping the inside of the rim. Swapped them around and no problems.
