I'm in glow plug hell!!!! Please Help!

Throwing this out there as I've searched so many threads that I'm lost.

Breakdown since last night: I ordered a set of Federal Mogul 12v plugs GP975 only to figure out I have the super quick glow system with 6v green top plugs part number 853. The van has always had a hard time starting in the cold and after installing the plugs last night we decided to not plug in the block heater to test them out. I started it last night before bed and it was rough but started.

We try again this morning only to find after a few cranks the battery died. We get a new battery hooked up, and I figure it was the 12v plugs drawing either too much or the resistor was over worked (something draining, I checked to make sure the busbar wasn't touching something) and went to my local parts store to try and find the closest thing I could which was a set of NGK 2161 Y-115R1 6volt with a little green spacer and very similar. I install those and crank which is super sluggish and now nothing on that battery, like nothing comes on in the van now. I tested the battery and it is fine with 11.45v. We even tried jumping it with the taco truck and swapped the original old plugs back in but nothing.

So it must be a fuse or resistor somewhere I'm guessing? the 100amp fuse on the positive power supply looks fine, any ideas? If I have the wrong plugs still I'll have to get them overseas, that's why we were hoping for the NGK guys even if they last only a year.

Thanks guys.

Ugh sometimes its the simple things, I missed a positive connection to the new battery (starter connector probably) but happy to say the new plugs fired it right up! We'll see how long they last but I got them for 90 bucks which is fine by me as the OEM ones are hard to find in the states.

thanks
