Needing help figuring out what's going on here. My '90 L300 Super Exceed will not start. Everything was fine until a day after my last oil change when I failed to get a second glow plug click and the got no response when I turned the ignition to start. Next morning I got the second click and it started as normal. Now, again, I get no second click and no response from the ignition/starter.
What is the most likely issue? Is the starter somehow linked to or disabled by the glow plug circuit?
My local mechanic is wanting to throw a starter at it and I'm not ready to go there while still believing the glow plug circuit is the issue.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

no crank/no start no second click?
Something like this happened to me and it was a simple loose connector near the battery. The culprit was the wire that goes to the starter (left side looking back at the battery) with a fusible link connector inbetween.

Had my Delica hauled into my mechanic, and of course, he had no issues with it starting. He ended up disconnecting and cleaning a lot of electrical between the battery and everything else. He replaced a frayed throttle position sensor cable, tightened the battery terminals and drove it for a few days. Seems cleared up now.
I'm heading across country next week, so keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Sailmonkeys,
Just a rule of thumb that has been useful to me: If you're having electrical issues, first look to the battery terminals and clean them, even if they look clean; engine power ~ check the air filter for cleanliness; the latest for me was my tailgate not unlocking properly ~ it was the little button lock in the third brake lamp (in the rear window) had unscrewed enough that there was no more space for the pin to unlock as it was colliding with the ceiling of the brake lamp. Basically, start simple before you start tearing things apart. Life is cheaper when you do this.
