Vacuum Solenoid Relay

Post by D.Rock »

Hello,
I just noticed that a vacuum hose wasn't connected on either end and started to trace it back to find out where it came from. One end looks like it was on a vacuum solenoid relay. The plastic barb broke off in the hose. The other end went toward the fuel filter but I couldn't find where it may have connected. I researched for a while online but couldn't find any information except some used solenoids for sale on ebay. I circled the solenoid in the picture.

Thanks!

The hose you found goes from that solenoid to the idle speed vacuum motor/cannister- it pulls on the throttle lever to increase the idle speed when the aircon is turned on. There should be a small metal barb on the back of the cannister.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Easy fix. Grab yourself some qbond. Now remove the section of plastic nipple from the hose end and qbond it back on to the solenoid following the glue's instructions. It'll never break again. And you've saved yourself from buying a new solenoid.
