Howdy all. Just bought a fairly well known Delica from a fellow in Whistler. Spent the last two days cleaning and detailing it. Its got lots of kms but appears to be in pretty good shape aside from a couple of details. I needed a van to do small contract home repair work and something that would get me to wilder places in the spring/summer/fall than my VW Jetta would get me. This thing is lifted and ready to go underwater with its snorkel.

I have one small problem though. The dual batteries need replacement and it looks like I can't get them out without removing the intercooler. Any suggestions on how to do this? It looks like the intercooler is supported by a frame that has two bolts that attach onto the body above the radiator and two that attach behind the dash. Does that make sense? On the left side the intercooler attaches to two pipes with some rubber hoses. Maybe they have enough give to let me lift them enough to move the batteries. On the right side of the batteries the coolant reservoir is jammed against them. They are Group 24 batteries which I understand is the right size.
Would appreciate any advice.

Hi Mstulken, welcome to Delica Canada :M

You could always consult the Space Gear shop manual which can be found in the L400 Dedicated Technical Reference Library, which can be found in "Delica Canada Technical" on the board index.

Welcome to the club and congrats. To save you the time of looking it up, to move the intercooler out of the way, remove those 4 10mm bolts you mentioned and you can lift up the intercooler out of the way. No need to disconnect the hoses. Be careful as there are some wires and such attached to it.
