Hey there!
Hyundai don't make 4m40 because they only make a L300 hyundai version. Their Version of the 4d56 comes with a clutch assembly and pretty much everything but AC compressor. We just ordered a couple of em here at the shop in Cumberland. I would suggest, since your in NZ, to get on of those instead of a whole unit. Your already pimped up truck would run great for another 20 years!!

Do you have a part number of that 120L tank? I just bought a L300 5spd but it only has the very back tank and it seems awfully small!]it's almost perfect (for me): 120l fuel tanks, LSD rear/locking front differentials, spare tyre carrier, intercooler, rebuilt transmission... it really is just the engine that's letting me down now.

Well I think I might just go with a custom tank and put the spare tire on the bushbar. How big are your tires? Do you have a lift? and do you also have a roof rack? Your fuel consumption seems pretty high to me so it'll give me an idea

Welllll.... my fuel consumption is not a good yardstick. To answer your questions I have 31" tyres, 1.5" lift (take seats out of the back, wind up front bars until it's level again), and no roof rack, but I also have a 13G hybrid turbo and intercooler that make me happy. More precisely it's not the *turbo* that makes me happy, it's the look on Audi drivers' faces when a big white 4WD plumber's van hits warp speed from the traffic lights.
I'm not the gentlest, most fuel-efficient of drivers. I also drive a '63 Mini Cooper S that'll go as fast as you dare, anywhere, and the Delica is just a tiny bit frustrating in its reluctance to go around corners without flopping about like a newborn giraffe. I tend to compensate with momentum.
I also tow a caravan a lot. 2200kg Delica + 800kg caravan + 400kg payload = MPGs in the mid-teens.

Power - 131 kW (178 PS) at 4,000 rpm
Torque - 350 N·m (258 lb·ft) at 1,800 rpm
Engine type - Inline 4-cylinder
Fuel system - 2nd Generation Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi)
Compression ratio - 16.5:1[20]
application: Mitsubishi Challenger, Mitsubishi Triton
Nobody local will bring one in for me because they say it can't be done... which I know is bogus. I've put a Cossie motor into a Merkur, a 240SX engine into a datsun 1600, a 180SX engine into a 1600, and a pickup truck motor into a 610... There's no reason a common rail 4D can't go into a delica. I've had to resort to planning a VW 1.9L engine swap when my 4D dies again...

The thought had crossed my mind. It's the same block so it should fit using the old engine mounts, and it might even bolt up to the old transmission. It's a bit taller, but making the engine cover a bit higher isn't difficult.
The issue I have is that the wiring is all integrated into the rest of the vehicle. Unless you're using an aftermarket ECU you'd need a complete donor Triton, and they're still expensive here. I'm not convinced the old gearbox would handle the torque either, and a full running-gear swap is a bit more involved than I'm looking for.
It would be awesome though. ABS and traction control, full-time 4WD, and improved fuel consumption and power. Mmmmm.

I'm skeptical is needs the whole harness, you should be able to disable the ABS/TSC/STS with PCM (Alien Tech) programming because you don't need it anyways. EGR and DPF can also be deleted as well as the PATs system disabled.The rest of the signals should be integral to the engine side of the harness. Factory trans does not have any ECM input so there's no trans tuning required. A shift kit would increase the factory trans ability to handle power and honestly you won't be using all 170+ PS regularly anyways.

Option 2 would be convert the engine to full mechanical with a VP pump.

maybe jk or nagasaki motors could bring one in? I will be starting with my vw conversion soon it looks like.. my 4d just started acting up again and enough is enough
