Hey everyone as I said in my new member page I will be purchasing a 1991 L300 I'm quite excited. Having said the I'm a little nervous as well. Any helpful advice or tips for a newbie? I would like to come back on here later saying I'm having a blast and not asking for help. Thanks in advance.

Try the L300 forum instead of general discussion. Guys there are L300 enthusiasts.

Hey everyone I hope I'm posting in the right area this time lol. I going to be purchasing a 91 L300 in a month. I'm hoping for some helpful advice or tips? I want to come back and say how much fun I'm having and not asking for help as I made a dumbass mistake. Thanks in advance.

Helpful advice before a call for help.
Few things I've learned in the last 4 years owning a previously neglected L300.
-Know a warning sign, pay attention to what your vehicle is telling you through feel and sound.
-Watch your exhaust color on startup-another warning sign.
-Get a tool kit ready.
-Find a trusted mechanic who knows these vehicles. Or get a bigger tool kit, peruse these forums and get technically savvy on 4d56 engine maintenance. 4 years ago I didn't know what a sway bar bushing is. Now I feel confident changing my head gasket. This forum is a wealth of knowledge on the subject.
-On that note know how to use the forum search function. Most Delica problems are already answered in older posts.
-Chill out on the accelerator uphill, Delicas don't like to be pushed to the max for very long. Watch your engine temperature.
-Have fun! Its a beautiful machine and will take care of you if you take care of it!
Good luck

Wow, that list is... I'm going to say "comprehensive", but my first thought was "daunting".
Still. L300s are old and relatively cheap, so you're bound to find some areas that haven't been maintained properly. Like the others have said, check the fluids first, keep an eye on your temperature until you're familiar with how it should be (in the lower third unless climbing a long hill and then halfway or maybe a little above), and if something sounds different then don't ignore it.
Ask questions if you need to, we've all been through the learning curve. Just check out the FAQ and Technical Reference sections first, just in case.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

I liked the list but I was a bit intimidated. I know its a guide so I'm ok lol. I also know I'll be asking a few more questions as I go along. I'm just happy to be able to ask other people and not fumble in the dark.
