L400 Rear Seats in L300 Mod

Post by dr_airtime »

Has anyone ever seen anyone in the Lower Mainland that has done this Mod and can recommend a precedent metal fabricator?

I have an L300 Chamonix and found some L400 folding Chamonix seats and was going to just take the jump with one of the East Van metal fabricators and drop off my Van - can you do it?

I have to still physically line up the L400 seats inside my L300 but the post here proves it is do-able.

Sweet. Picked up some L400 chamonix rear seats for my L300 chamonix. Amazing auto had them. Hard to find in good condition. See pics for how it will work. Have not found metalworker yet but will take project into Vancouver Metalworka next week. Tirewell mounts will be dead simole but am going to get a floor "bar" solution doneso the seats have something to click into for seafety purposes (don't collapse on passengers!) will post final details back here for any Lower Mainland L300 drivers who wish to replicate! L400 Rear Seats in L300 Mod

I have a picture of the actual bracket somewhere at home. Someone posted it on facebook couple weeks ago. I'll try to put it on here as soon as I find it.

@JoeMag - here is where I got my inspiration from a UK owner. Bracket picture here. Pretty much going to take that picture into metal worker. Addition I will plan is metal bar for seats to lock into.

Curious on the forum's thoughts on my plan for the metal bar running across the floor for the seats to click into. This is neccessary to keep them from collapsing (e.g. accident, bouncy logging roads). I have a sweet custom garage liner floor you can see and I laid it on top of the original carpet. I also want the option to only fold down one seat at a time so I need a stationary, permanent bar and/or floor brackets.

The other option is to lift up the garage liner, cut out the back half of the carpet, replace with plywood and install with some brackets the seats click into. I don't really want to put any holes in the liner though that is why I am thinking the bar running across the floor that is welded to the brackets.

See attached. Also trying to find a good metal working around Vancouver who wants to tack this on as it's tough to "pre-measure' any of this. Let me know if you have a guy!

Update: this is still a go. Very hard to find a car/welding fabrication mechanic near Vancouver who is available. Currently scheduled to be done with Classic Customs on Clark in Vancouver near the end of September. I'll post pics of the final project when all done and be available if anyone else feels like replicating at this point.

Current plan is to lift up my rubber flooring and remove large part of the carpet I left and then glue down some plywood that I can then mount metal brackets to for the seats to click into for the floor.
